YWCA Fundraiser, Sept. 8

On Monday, September 8, over 150 designer handbags will be auctioned at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead for the YWCA Atlanta’s 4th Annual “Open Your Purse” fundraiser. Browse and bid on handbags donated by local celebrities, national handbag designers and Atlanta’s most fashionable boutiques. This year, handbag designs also include an eco-friendly selection and specialty pet carrier collection with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the YWCA Atlanta Women in Transition program.

Event co-chairs include Lovette Russell, Laura Turner Seydel and Christine St. Clare. The event is designed and produced by Candy Berman & Associates. Sponsors include: Macy’s, Delta Air Lines, KPMG, Stephanie Blank, SPANX and Kilpatrick Stockton.

Think you might have too many handbags? Attendees are encouraged to make room for new handbags by bringing in their gently used bags to donate to the women of the Women in Transition program. Annually, the donation drive collects over 100 handbags for the organization.

In addition to the auction and handbag drive, the event will award the Power of the Purse Award to a graduate of the Women in Transition program who has completed the 18 month supportive housing program and has overcome incredible odds to achieve success for herself and her family.

Individual tickets to the event can be purchased for $150. Those looking for a girl’s night out can register for a table of ten or go all out with the Diva package, which includes limo service, champagne, custom bid paddles, an exclusive preview of the auction and group recognition at the event.
